Treatment for Anxiety
46A Natural Approach
Are there alternatives to "talk therapy" or taking harmful medication? Well, this might sound like a strange answer, but it depends.
Here's what I'm getting at. One of the presuppositions of NLP states that people do have the power to change. That doesn't mean that change is easy. Only that it is possible.
Now, if you happen to believe, for instance, that you're a victim of your circumstances, upbrining, genetics, etc. -- if you feel that you are not ultimately in control of your life, that someone has to fix you, prescribe something for you, or whatever, well... in that case, there might not be another way for you.
I don't say that to be harsh. Far from it. It is empowering to know that you can make changes in your life. You may need to work 1 on 1 with someone, or maybe a book, audio CD, some other program. But you really have only 1 choice -- to believe that it IS possible to change. Or to believe that you're a victim. Now, I don't know about you, but I find it more comforting, empowering, liberating to believe that change is possible.
How can I say that? Because I overcame anxiety and agoraphobia.
It sure wasn't easy. It took some work -- and I had to own that work and the process. Now, in my case, I was fortunate to find someone close by who was able to help. His NLP Training program usually runs two times a year, so check it out when you get a chance.
So what does this mean for you?
Well, for starters I guess the first question you may have to ask yourself is this: is change possible? Once you take that first step, all the rest is possible.
You can check out this anxiety resource, or read about a treatment for anxiety that program that might be helpful to you (because it has been helpful for others), check out the link above.
I wish you all the best, and I hope you find some comfort and strength knowing that you do have the power to make change possible.
